iNGREDIENTS
- 1 medium, firm red cabbage (6 cups)
- 6 slices bacon
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 tsp. salt
- ⅛ tsp. pepper
- ½ cup water
- 2 cups tart apples, peeled, cored, and sliced thin
- ½ cup vinegar ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
dIRECTIONS
- Shred cabbage fine.
- Cook bacon in large skillet until crisp. Remove bacon from drippings and set aside.
- Cook onion 2 to 3 minutes in drippings.
- Add cabbage, salt, pepper, and water. Cover tightly and cook over low heat 10 minutes.
- Add apples, vinegar, and brown sugar. Cook until apples are tender.
