Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cup sugar, divided
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- ½ tsp. sea salt*
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp. cinnamon, divided
- ½ tsp. cayenne pepper
- 2 ¼ cup flour 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Directions
- Beat together 1 ½ cups sugar, butter, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add cream of tartar, baking soda, cocoa powder, ½ tsp. cinnamon, and cayenne powder.
- Beat in flour.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Mix together remaining ¼ cup sugar and ½ tsp. cinnamon. 8. Roll heaping tbsp. of dough into balls and roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Drop 2 inches apart on baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 375° for 10 minutes.
Notes
*I have always just used regular salt.
This recipe comes from AllRecipes. It says it makes 24 cookies but I have always made them a little larger than a tablespoon and have always gotten close to 3 dozen. These are great if you ever find you have volunteered to make between 100 and 150 cookies for an event, just make 2 double batches!
